Our Drive to Zero services support across 4 key pillars
1. Suitability assessments
We help fleet owners understand their options and support their transition pathway towards a net zero fleet while also fitting with their mobility requirements.
Data drives decisions and using our telematics expertise we can provide factual evidence on fleet requirements and future needs.
2. Fleet solutions
Every fleet requirement is different. We offer a range of e-LCV’s but also educate customers around alternative, low-carbon emitting fuels or better vehicle utilisation to support a lower carbon footprint, and offer guidance including driver training to customers.
Innovation in this area of the industry is hugely exciting and we look to identify and support new opportunities we can bring to our customers.
3. Charging solutions
We have the in-house expertise and capabilities to work with customers to both design and install charging solutions that meet their business requirements, whether it be domestic, commercial or public charging needs. In both the UK and Spain we are well underway with programmes rolling out charging infrastructure across the majority of our branches.
We also provide guidance on managing the complex dynamics of public charging, online apps and billing systems, and in Spain, strategic agreements with leading utilities for preferential rates for green energy supply.
4. In life support
We build deep relationships with our customers which are crucial in providing support across their business activities. We have ensured our workshops have the right tools and our technicians have the appropriate skills, knowledge and training to support and service all aspects of the vehicles and infrastructure needed for a decarbonising fleet.
This extends to the vehicle aftermarket, where in Spain we provide guidance and dedicated support to customers considering acquiring a used e-vehicle.
Policy engagement
Through our board level representation on UK and Spanish industry bodies, BVRLA and AEDIVE, we are engaging with Government departments, providing insight into the most effective methods to drive decarbonisation, through focus areas, legislation and taxation mechanisms. These have been acknowledged to help shape policy decisions, such as the longer term clarity on UK vehicle tax rates announced in the November 2022 Autumn Statement. Our public affairs involvement also includes supporting initiatives such as the BVLRA’s Van Plan 2021 paper, extension of the UK Plug-In Van Grant by two years, and the Spanish ‘Neutral in Motion’ manifesto across industry associations such as AEDIVE, AER, Feneval and Ganvam.
Internally, across geographies we have dedicated task forces focused on developing innovative ways to communicate with customers about how they can work towards a net zero fleet; providing guidance and thought leadership.
Case study: Northgate Vehicle Hire
Northgate Vehicle Hire, the UK’s largest B2B light commercial vehicle rental and mobility solutions provider needed their 63 branches nationwide electrifying.
ChargedEV project managed the whole process from the start offering a full turnkey solution consisting of supply, installation, groundworks, maintenance and aftercare.
Challenges
A big challenge was that some of Northgate’s sites had limited available capacity on the electricity supply meaning in phase one of this project we would need to utilise what was available before upgrading the supply.
Alongside this, as Northgate are a thriving business, their sites are always busy – this meant that some sites had limited space to ensure the electric vehicle bays would always be available to charge.
Our solution
With some sites having limited electricity supply we needed to provide a charger that could make best use of the available power. With Easee‘s unique load balancing capabilities, we did just that.
Throughout the project we continue to liaise with each branch manager and agree on a suitable space to install the chargers, including whether they are wall or floor mounted.
When asked about our management of the project, Christopher Jones, Branch Operations Director for Northgate Vehicle Hire said:
All we needed to do was choose which sites we wanted Charging facilities – the rest we left to ChargedEV!
The team have visited our sites, engaged with the teams and worked out collectively where the best place would be for the charging facilities.
A professional pack is sent to us for review and sign off to make sure all parties are happy with the placement of the chargers and the subsequent costings.
From day one to completion the ChargedEV team take full control of the project and ensure completion to the highest standard.
We have had 12 sites completed to date with a further 24 planned, the process from start to finish is seamless.
When asked about the solution we provided, and how it fits the needs at each branch, he continued:
We have a rough idea of the charging capacity we required for each site and this is checked and validated by the ChargedEV team.
Once in agreement of the number of chargers required, we collectively agree the type of chargers we will need based on the volume of vehicles at each branch.
We keep one eye on future proofing branches and making sure that any groundworks will cover us for future additions should / when they be required.
Each of our branches are then visited post installation and I am delighted with the works that have been carried out at each branch.
