Redde Northgate shortlisted for Best Overall Performance in Fostering colleague Share Ownership at this year’s ProShare Awards. The Fostering Share Ownership award recognises businesses who are committed to fostering a culture of colleague share ownership. ENGAGEMENT | Team Blackwood recently gathered for a meeting with board members and staff just after the Blackwood AGM at Murrayfield Stadium, which took place last week. Who are Team Blackwood? Team Blackwood are our regional scrutiny panels. These panels consist of dedicated tenants from across Scotland, who come together regularly to review Blackwood's performance. Team Blackwood relays feedback, we listen and then action positive change. Team Blackwood’s purpose is to ensure Blackwood lives up to our promises and continuously raises the bar for service standards. During the regular meet-ups, which have predominately been online over the past three-and-a-half years, so it was great for everyone to meet face-to-face again, Team Blackwood dives deep into a wide range of issues that directly impact tenants. From shaping our home upgrade programme to selecting top-level contractors for services in the areas we serve, Team Blackwood are our tenants’ voice at the forefront of decision-making. So a huge thanks to the participants of Team Blackwood – their dedication and commitment to making a difference is incredibly valuable. Their feedback – both good and bad – helps to change the way we operate and strengthens our ability to enable people to live their lives to the full. #TeamBlackwood #engagementmatters #customerfeedback #independentliving

Sustainability Specialist at Johnstons of Elgin (B Corp) , Taking a systems approach in my work using multiple frameworks, COP1 attendee, outdoor enthusiast, too old to stop now, born at 320ppm .
This little piece of work has taken a fair chunk of my time over the last 15 or so months, so I'm delighted to share this post from our CEO. What have I learned about helping an established business through the B Corp process? 1. Without commitment from the top, sustainability efforts go nowhere. 2. The team's the thing. 3 Prior planning over an extended timescale is a smart thing to do 4. What we have achieved is a baseline understanding...the real work of improvement begins again every day, and there is such a long way to go. 5 A science-based understanding of sustainability is essential. I'd like to acknowledge the work of Future-Fit Foundation, Geoff Kendall, Bob Willard and The Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development Community. .I've been guided and informed by visionary people all my working life. I was just smart enough to recognise the value of the work they pioneered. Now, if you'll excuse me...I have some basking in a warm glow to enjoy. Today. Tomorrow is about spreading the understanding to our Hawick team.
Johnstons of Elgin are proud to announce that we are now a certified B Corporation! There are many certifications and membership organisations doing a lot of good work, but what makes the B Corp movement special is the “Mission Lock”. This goes to the heart of the purpose of the organisation and requires changes to our founding documents, our Articles of Association. Companies have a legal obligation to look after the interests of their shareholders. This is of course important, as a business can only do good in the world if it is thriving and making returns for shareholders and profits for re-investment, but it does not fully reflect the importance of other stakeholders. Becoming a B Corp requires a commitment to a legal change to reflect the importance of looking after people and the planet, as well as profit, the “triple bottom line”. Johnstons have therefore changed our Articles so that the company is run: “For the benefit of its members as a whole and through its business and operations, to have a material positive impact on society and the environment” We are very fortunate at Johnstons to work with enlightened owners who have always recognised the wider community good. Indeed, when our founder Alexander Johnston retired in 1845, his son James wrote, “for upwards of fifty years he carried out the business of woollen manufacture, with credit, if not much profit for himself, and much benefit to the community”. The current generation of our family owners have been hugely supportive of our ambition to become a BCorp, as it is a natural fit with their values and the way we do business. The team at Johnstons have done great work to get us to the point where we could meet the rest of the stringent criteria required to become a BCorp and this in turn has made us a better company. There remains much work to do but it is very fulfilling as a Chief Executive and a Board to be so clearly empowered by our family owners to make decisions that will continue us on a journey to becoming a fully sustainable company. #bcorpcertified #community #makers #craft #fashionindustry
